Here's how to match the head to the job.
Guiding Pipe, Tubing, or Round Stock
Use a C-Hook head. The open C-shape wraps around cylindrical materials, giving you solid contact and control. When you're positioning pipe into a rack or guiding round bar stock during a lift, the C-Hook keeps the load stable without slipping off.
Hooking Into Rigging Hardware
Use a J-Hook head. The single curved hook engages chain links, shackles, and other attachment points. It's your go-to for general hooking tasks—connecting rigging components, adjusting sling positions, or pulling tag lines into place.
Steering a Suspended Load
Use a Shepherd head. The curved design applies directional force to guide loads during travel. When a suspended load needs to move left, right, or rotate into position, the Shepherd head gives you the leverage to steer it precisely where it needs to go.
Working Awkward Angles
Use an S-Hook head. With hooks on both ends, the S-Hook provides engagement options from multiple directions. It's useful when the load orientation limits your approach angle, or when you want a backup grip point for added security.
Fine Positioning Work
Use an M-Head. This style of attachment allows controlled, precise manipulation. When the job demands careful, deliberate adjustments—threading a load into a tight space or making small corrections—the M-Head delivers the fine control you need.
When Standard Heads Won't Work
Some jobs don't fit neatly into these categories. Unusual load shapes, restricted access, or specialized processes may call for a different approach. Amick manufactures custom head designs for these situations. If you're dealing with a unique application, contact Amick to discuss a solution engineered for your specific needs.
