C-Hooks
C-Hooks are below-the-hook lifting devices shaped like the letter "C" — designed to slide into the inner diameter of a horizontally oriented coil for fast, efficient lifting and positioning. Their open shape allows the operator to engage and disengage the coil quickly, making C-hooks one of the fastest coil handling methods available.
C-hooks are counterbalanced to hang level whether loaded or empty, ensuring stability and predictable handling. The lower carrying arm supports the coil from beneath, and the curved inner surfaces are designed to minimize contact damage to the coil's inner wraps. High-strength alloy steel construction keeps the hook's physical size and weight manageable while delivering the capacity needed for heavy coil handling.
All C-hooks supplied by Amick comply with ASME B30.20 and BTH-1 requirements. Each unit is proof tested at 125% of rated capacity and permanently marked with rated load, serial number, and manufacturer identification.

Type
Counterbalanced C-hook coil lifting devices.
Applications
Steel mills, steel service centers, coil storage warehouses, and manufacturing facilities. Used for lifting and transporting horizontal coils of steel, aluminum, wire, paper, and other rolled materials. Preferred when fast coil pick-up and release speed is a priority.
Exceptions
C-hooks are passive lifting devices with no mechanical locking mechanism — the operator is responsible for ensuring proper coil engagement throughout the lift. Never operate over personnel. Ensure the coil sits fully on the lower carrying arm before lifting. Do not exceed rated capacity. Inspect counterbalance, carrying arm, bail, and all structural welds before each use. Annual periodic inspections required per ASME B30.20.
