Chain Hooks

Chain Hooks are the load connection point of a chain sling assembly — the component that engages directly with the load being lifted. Selecting the right hook style for the application is critical for safe, efficient lifting.

Amick stocks a full range of chain hooks designed to match Grade 80 and Grade 100 alloy chain sling assemblies. Available styles include sling hooks for general overhead lifting, grab hooks for shortening chain or securing loads at intermediate points, foundry hooks for heavy-duty applications in harsh environments, plate hooks for engaging structural steel and plate material, and eye hooks for direct connection to master links and rigging hardware.

All hooks are forged from alloy steel and matched to the chain grade and size of the sling assembly. Hooks must be rated at or above the working load limit of the chain they are used with — the sling assembly is only as strong as its weakest component.

Amick supplies hooks as individual components and as part of complete chain sling assemblies fabricated at our Pittsburgh facility.

The right hook for every chain sling — Grade 80 and 100, stocked in Pittsburgh. Call 412-429-1212.

Type

Forged alloy steel chain hooks. Styles include: Sling, Grab, Foundry, Plate, Eye, Stirrup, and Mold hooks. Grade 80 and Grade 100.

Applications

Chain sling assembly fabrication, sling repair and component replacement, and any overhead lifting application using alloy chain slings. Hook style selection depends on the load type, engagement method, and application requirements.

Exceptions

Always match hook grade and capacity to the chain sling assembly. Inspect hooks before each use for cracks, distortion, throat opening increase, and latch condition. Per ASME B30.10, hooks showing more than 10% increase in throat opening or more than 10° twist from the original plane must be removed from service. Do not repair, weld, or reshape hooks — replace them.
