Electric Chain Hoists

Electric Chain Hoists are powered lifting devices that use an electric motor to raise and lower loads via a calibrated alloy steel load chain. They are the workhorse of industrial lifting — providing reliable, repeatable, and efficient load handling for production lines, workstations, overhead cranes, and monorail systems.

Electric chain hoists are available in a wide range of capacities, lift speeds, and configurations to match virtually any application. Single-phase models serve lighter-duty and single-operator needs, while three-phase models deliver the power and duty cycle capability required for heavy industrial production environments.

All electric chain hoists are manufactured and operated in accordance with ASME B30.16 and ASME HST-1M (Performance Standard for Electric Chain Hoists). OSHA requires that hoists be inspected on a regular schedule based on service conditions — frequent inspections for daily/monthly checks and documented periodic inspections at least annually.

Applications

Overhead cranes, monorail systems, jib cranes, workstation cranes, and any application requiring powered lifting. Used across manufacturing, construction, warehousing, plant maintenance, assembly operations, and shipping/receiving.

Exceptions

Never exceed the rated load capacity. Do not use load chain as a sling. Always ensure the hoist and load are in a straight vertical line — do not side-pull or angle-load. Inspect load chain, hooks, brakes, limit switches, electrical connections, and controls per ASME B30.16 inspection requirements. After any repair involving load suspension parts, the hoist must be load tested before returning to service.
