Hooks and Latches
Hooks and Latches are load-engaging rigging hardware used to connect directly to the load or to other rigging components. Rigging hooks are forged from alloy steel and are available in a range of styles — including eye hooks, clevis hooks, swivel hooks, and sorting hooks — each designed for specific connection and load engagement requirements.
Safety latches are spring-loaded closures that prevent slings and rigging from accidentally disengaging from the hook during a lift. OSHA requires that hooks be equipped with safety latches unless a qualified person determines that it is safer to hoist without them and that specific safety procedures are followed.
Hooks are governed by ASME B30.10, which establishes requirements for fabrication, attachment, use, inspection, and maintenance. Key inspection criteria include throat opening increase (more than 10% requires removal from service), twist exceeding 10° from the original plane, and any cracks, nicks, or gouges in the load-bearing area.

Type
Forged alloy steel rigging hooks — eye, clevis, swivel, sorting, and grab styles. Safety latches and latch kits.
Applications
Chain sling assemblies, wire rope sling assemblies, crane hooks, and any rigging application requiring a direct load connection point. Used across all lifting and rigging operations.
Exceptions
Remove hooks from service if throat opening has increased more than 10% from original, if twist exceeds 10° from original plane, or if cracks, nicks, or gouges are found in the load-bearing area per ASME B30.10. Do not repair, weld, or reshape hooks — replace them. Safety latches must be functional and in place unless specific exemption procedures are followed. Inspect before each use.
