Load Binders
Load Binders are tensioning devices used to tighten and secure chain over cargo for transport — essential equipment for flatbed trucking, heavy hauling, and any cargo securement application. They are NOT overhead lifting devices.
Two primary types are available: ratchet binders and lever (snap) binders. Ratchet binders use a ratcheting mechanism to gradually tighten the chain with controlled, incremental tension. Lever binders use a lever handle that snaps over center to apply tension in one motion — faster to operate but requiring more physical effort and care, as the handle can kick back if not properly controlled.
Load binders must be matched to the chain grade and size being used — a binder rated for Grade 70 transport chain is not interchangeable with one rated for Grade 80 or 100 alloy chain. Working load limits are specific to the binder model and must meet DOT/FMCSA cargo securement requirements.

Type
Ratchet load binders and lever (snap) load binders. Matched to chain grade and size.
Applications
Cargo securement on flatbed trucks, trailers, and heavy haul transport. Used to tension transport chain over loads per DOT/FMCSA cargo securement regulations. NOT for overhead lifting.
Exceptions
Load binders are NOT rated for overhead lifting — they are cargo securement devices only. Match the binder to the chain grade and size. Never exceed the binder's working load limit. Lever binders must be operated with care to avoid handle kickback. Inspect handle, ratchet mechanism, hooks, and body for cracks, distortion, and wear before each use. Follow DOT/FMCSA regulations for cargo securement.
