Pads & Wear Protections

Sling Pads and Wear Protection are critical accessories that extend the service life of lifting slings and help meet ASME B30.9 compliance requirements. The standard is clear: slings in contact with edges, corners, protrusions, or abrasive surfaces shall be protected with material of sufficient strength, thickness, and construction to prevent damage.

Amick offers a full line of wear pads and corner protection designed to shield slings from the most common sources of damage — sharp edges, rough surfaces, and abrasive contact points that can cut through webbing or round sling jackets. Proper sling protection doesn't just extend equipment life — it reduces the risk of sling failure during a lift.

Wear pads are available for use with web slings, round slings, and wire rope slings. Whether the application involves steel beams with sharp edges, concrete with abrasive surfaces, or machinery with protruding hardware, the right pad or guard can make the difference between a sling that lasts and one that fails prematurely.

Type

Wear pads, corner guards, and edge protectors. Shark Skin, Felt, Kevlar Felt, Ballistic Nylon, and Heavy Duty Nylon Quick Sleeves (Velcro).

Applications

Any lifting application where the sling contacts edges, corners, protrusions, or abrasive surfaces. Required by ASME B30.9 whenever these conditions are present. Used across construction, steel erection, manufacturing, and any environment where loads have sharp or rough contact points. Essential for extending the service life of synthetic web slings, round slings, and wire rope slings.

Exceptions

Select sling protection appropriate for the hazard — abrasion-resistant protection and cut-resistant protection are not the same. Match the pad material and thickness to the sharpness and abrasiveness of the load surface. Inspect wear pads before each use for cuts, tears, and excessive wear. Replace worn or damaged protection before proceeding with a lift.
