Reversed Eye Web Slings

Reversed Eye Web Slings are constructed by folding the webbing back and sewing it side by side to form the eye, rather than simply folding it over and stitching it flat as in a standard eye-and-eye sling. This creates a reinforced, heavier-duty eye that sits at 90° to the sling body — similar in orientation to a twisted eye, but with a wider, more robust bearing surface.

The reversed eye construction provides enhanced load distribution at the connection point and increased durability in the eye area, making these slings well suited for demanding applications where standard flat or twisted eyes would wear too quickly. The wider eye profile also provides a more stable seat on crane hooks and connection hardware.

Amick manufactures reversed eye web slings at our Pittsburgh facility.

Type

Reversed eye construction — webbing folded back and sewn side by side. Eyes oriented 90° to the sling body. Available in nylon and polyester.

Applications

Heavy-duty lifting in construction, manufacturing, and industrial operations where the eye area is subject to high wear. Well suited for repetitive production lifting where a standard eye-and-eye sling would require frequent replacement. Compatible with vertical, choker, and basket hitches.

Exceptions

Same temperature and chemical limitations as all synthetic web slings: not for use above 194°F (90°C) or below -40°F (-40°C). Nylon is susceptible to acids and bleaching agents; polyester is susceptible to strong alkalis. Nylon loses approximately 15% capacity when wet. Remove from service per ASME B30.9 criteria.
